CLAREMONT, CA — A household in Los Angeles County had a surprise early morning visitor over the weekend when a bear stopped by, according to police.
Officers responded around 2 a.m. Saturday to the 700 block of Vía Montevideo for a report of a bear in a house, police said. The residents retreated to their bedrooms and by the time officers arrived, the animal had left, according to police.
The bear entered the kitchen, likely in search of food, police said. KTLA reported the man who found the animal encountered it when he went to check on cookies in the oven.
