Claremont Attempted Murder Suspect Arrested After Weeklong Manhunt: Police
An attempted murder suspect was arrested on a train platform in Hollywood Sunday after a weeklong manhunt, according to police.
CLAREMONT, CA — A weeklong manhunt ended at a Hollywood Metro station Sunday when police arrested a homeless man wanted on suspicion of attempted murder in Claremont, authorities said.
Phillip Borunda, 41, was arrested on a subway platform around 10 a.m. Sunday on a charge connected to an Oct. 22 incident in Claremont. Borunda is accused of stabbing a person in the ribs following an argument near the Claremont Metrolink station, according to the Claremont Police Department.
Borunda is being held without bail and is due in court on Tuesday, according to jail records.

Borunda has lengthy history with police in Claremont: He's been arrested by police in the city 14 times since 2019 on charges related to arson, burglary, drugs and possession of stolen property, according to police.
During the time of the stabbing, Borunda was out of custody following a recent arson arrest. He had been released under Los Angeles County's zero-bail system, according to police.

As of Nov. 30, Borunda was being held without bail and is due in court on Dec. 12, according to jail records.
