Claremont Students Post to Social Media During STAR Test

The California Department of Education announced Friday that students from hundreds of schools posted to their social media while taking the STAR test, including Claremont Unified School District's Community Day School and El Roble Intermediate.

The postings reportedly did not affect school test results, as the majority of the postings were of students posing with covers of test booklets or illegible test materials.

The two Claremont schools were not among the 16 schools where photos of test materials and questions occurred. 

The data comes after the state’s heightened monitoring of STAR testing administration. Last year, students from 12 schools posted about test questions or answers to their social media.

According to the state, if the security breach affects less than 5 percent of the number of students tested, the school is ineligible for academic awards. If more than 5 percent of students tested are affected, the schools API score can be invalidated.
