Garcetti Offers Renewed Support For Gold Line Extension: Report
The extension would help connect LA Metro's light-rail system from Glendora to Montclair.

LA VERNE, CA — Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti offered his renewed support Tuesday of Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority's $2.1-billion Gold Line extension project, according to the San Gabriel Valley Tribune.
Garcetti was in La Verne to tour the city's future Gold Line stop, where he said he would push Gov. Gavin Newsom for additional funding for the project, the paper reported. Garcetti sits on Metro's board of directors.
“If there is ever a year the state can afford it, with a $75 billion surplus, this is the year,” he told the Valley Tribune.

Lawmakers in the San Gabriel Valley and San Bernandino County have asked state officials for an additional $540 million in funding to help pay for the completion of the project, the paper reported.
The Gold Line, recently renamed the L Line, currently runs from East Los Angeles to Azusa. The extension would install an additional 12 miles of track that would go into San Bernardino County, ultimately stopping in Montclair, Metro officials said.
