Getaway Gone Wrong: Burglars Fleeing Restaurant Drive To Dead-End Street, Police Say
The Challenger they were traveling in had a stolen paper plate and the car itself was stolen, police said.
UPLAND, CA — Two burglars were taken into custody after they drove onto a dead-end street while fleeing a business break-in, according to police.
Officers responded around 3:30 a.m. Thursday to a burglary alarm at Corky’s Homestyle Kitchen & Bakery in the area of Seventh Street and Mountain Avenue in Upland, police said, adding they arrived to find four people running to a Dodge Challenger.
The group fled in the car, with the driver intentionally ramming a police vehicle and driving up Linda Way, a dead end, then trying to squeeze between two parked cars to reach the sidewalk, which caused the Challenger to get stuck, according to authorities.

The burglars attempted to run away but two of them — a Southgate man on probation for burglary and a 16-year-old from Los Angeles — were captured and booked on charges including assaulting an officer with a deadly weapon, commercial burglary, felony evading, grand theft auto, resisting and more, police said.
The Challenger had a stolen paper plate and another plate inside the car was associated with other burglaries, according to police, who said the vehicle itself was also stolen.
