LA VERNE, CA — Residents and city officials are angry at a state proposal that could see some of Los Angeles County's violent juvenile offenders housed at two detention facilities in La Verne, according to the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin.

The facilities, Camps Joseph Paige and Clinton B. Afflerbaugh, currently house low-level offenders. A California law allows for serious offenders to be moved from state-run facilities to county ones.

The city's two juvenile detention camps can each house up to 50 people, the Daily Bulletin reported. However, many La Verne residents bristled at the idea of having violent youths housed in the city.
