This Week in Claremont-La Verne: Funk Concert, Brilliant Books and a Thwarted Robbery
Local news briefs and headlines for your upcoming week.

1. Monday Night Concerts in the Park continue with Give Up the Junk, a pop/funk/jazz band. Concerts are Monday nights at Memorial Park, 840 N. Indian Hill Blvd., Claremont from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
2. Mrs. Nelson’s Toy & Book Shop, 1030 Bonita Ave., La Verne hosts “Brilliant Books for Boys,” a book club geared for readers ages 10 to 14 on Thursday at 5 p.m. There will also be a barbecue with guest authors.
3. Claremont Library, 208 N. Harvard Ave., Claremont, hosts a story time for children ages 15 months to 3 years and their caregivers Wednesday, Aug. 14. First session is 11 a.m. to 11;30 a.m. and the second session is 11:30 a.m. to noon.
