1 Person Dies In Crash On Highway 242 Near Concord
The driver was identified Monday by the Contra Costa County Coroner's Office.
CONCORD, CA — A two-vehicle crash claimed the life of a Santa Rosa woman Sunday morning on state Highway 242 near Concord, according to the California Highway Patrol and the Contra Costa County Coroner's Office.
The fatal collision was reported at 7:36 a.m. on southbound SR-242, south of Clayton Road.
The CHP's preliminary investigation indicated a BMW SUV, with one occupant, and a Ford sedan, with one occupant, were both traveling southbound on SR-242 when they collided.

The driver of the Ford suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was identified Monday by the coroner's office as Cassandra Spain, 62, of Santa Rosa.
The driver of the BMW was not injured.

The crash was still under investigation; the CHP asked anyone who witnessed it or the events leading up to it to contact CHP Contra Costa in Martinez at 925-646-4980. Witnesses can also email their contact information to 320Investigations@chp.ca.gov to be contacted by the investigating officer.
