3 Contra Costa Firefighters Injured At Highway 4 Crash Scene

While firefighters were attending to victims from a three-car crash, a fourth vehicle hit a car involved in the original crash.

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — Three firefighters were injured while responding to a car crash Monday on eastbound state Highway 4 in Bay Point, fire spokesman said. The Contra Costa County Fire Protection District responded to the crash shortly after 6 p.m. near San Marco Boulevard, according to Fire Capt. Steve Aubert.

While firefighters were attending to victims from the three-car crash, a fourth vehicle hit a car involved in the original crash.

The crash impact thrust the car into the firefighters. One was taken to a hospital with minor injuries and was later released.

Two other firefighters were able to jump onto the hood of the car as it came toward them, and were treated and released at the scene.

There were no injuries reported in the original crash, according to Aubert.
