3.6 Magnitude Quake Shakes East Bay

The twitterverse lights up with comments from those who felt the tremors – one 3.6 and the other 2.3 magnitude.

A magnitude-3.6 earthquake jolted the East Bay late Tuesday night, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The quake was reported just after 11:35 p.m. Tuesday. Its epicenter was reported about 3 miles northeast of San Leandro with a depth of approximately 5.7 miles.

Patch readers as south as Newark and as far east as Dublin reported feeling a significant shift on the earth’s ground.

The late night earthquake comes the same day that a 5.8-magnitude tremor hit the East Coast, about 38 miles outside of Richmond, Va. and an estimated 100 miles southwest of the nation’s capital.
