Antioch Man Among 16 Accused In Oakland Shootings

Search warrants were served in cities including Oakland, San Leandro, Hayward, Vallejo, Antioch and Richmond as part of the investigation.

BAY AREA, CA — Oakland police on Thursday were involved in executing several search warrants in the Bay Area that led to 16 arrests. On Thursday at 6 a.m., the Oakland Police Department, working in conjunction with other police agencies, executed several search warrants in cities including Oakland, San Leandro, Hayward, Vallejo, Antioch and Richmond as part of an investigation that began in October due to several shootings that occurred in north Oakland.

The department's Ceasefire team conducted investigations into the shootings and learned the suspects were conducting home, auto and marijuana dispensary burglaries and robberies throughout the Bay Area, Oakland police said.

The suspects arrested were booked on suspicion of various crimes including possession of a firearm, attempted murder, burglary of marijuana dispensaries, armed robbery, attempted residential robbery, possession of an assault rifle, possession of a firearm, auto burglary and grand theft purse snatch, according to police. Their names were not released.
