Arrest Made In Death Of Woman Near Buchanan Field Airport: Cops
A Pacheco man has been charged with gross vehicular manslaughter and DUI causing injury in the death of a Lafayette woman.
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — A 26-year-old Pacheco man was charged Thursday in the death of a woman whose body was discovered early Saturday just north of the Buchanan Field Airport in unincorporated Contra Costa County.
The Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office has charged Anthony Johnathan Buscemi with gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and with driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage causing injury in the death of 35-year-old Shelly Stevens of Lafayette.
Buscemi surrendered to detectives on Tuesday, Contra Costa County Sheriff's spokesman Jimmy Lee said in a news release.

He remained in custody Thursday afternoon at the Martinez Detention Facility in lieu of $300,000 bail.
At about 1:14 a.m. Sept. 5, Sheriff's deputies and California Highway Patrol officers were called to the 5000 block of Marsh Drive, between state Highway 4 and the north end of Buchanan Field, where a woman's body was found, having been struck by a vehicle, Lee said.

Soon thereafter, a deputy found what turned out to be the suspect vehicle nearby. The investigation is ongoing.
