Bargain Books on Sale at the Concord Library

For bookworms — self-proclaimed and proud — there is nothing more exciting than a used book sale, especially when the proceeds benefit the local library.

The shelves in the lobby of the Concord Library hold a treasure trove of bargain books, priced from 25 cents to $1.

You never know what you might find. For example, on a recent afternoon, books for sale included:

• The Quiet American, by Grahem Greene
• A Walk to Remember, by Nicholas Sparks
• Song of Solomon, by Toni Morrison
• Biographies of Richard Nixon and Elizabeth Taylor
• More than a dozen books from the Wagons West series by Dana Fuller Ross
• A '90s guide to Disneyland resorts
