BART Delays Continue On Pittsburg/Bay Point Line

The problem was initially reported around 6:30 a.m. Thursday between the Pleasant Hill/Contra Costa Centre and Walnut Creek stations.

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — BART trains are still being delayed on the Pittsburg/Bay Point line in the commute direction toward San Francisco this morning because of an equipment problem on the tracks, according to the transit agency.

The problem was initially reported around 6:30 a.m. Thursday between the Pleasant Hill/Contra Costa Centre and Walnut Creek stations.

A train that departed from the Concord station around that time did not arrive at the next station at Pleasant Hill until about 40 minutes later.

BART officials said the problem required crews to manually crank switches into place.

Trains began moving again, but the agency reported at about 8 a.m. that 10-minute delays remain.
