CHP, Police To Hold Checkpoint In Pittsburg
Traffic volume permitting, officers will check all cars and arrest drivers suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

PITTSBURG, CAβThe Contra Costa Area Office of the California Highway Patrol is partnering with the Pittsburg Police Department to hold a checkpoint Friday within the Pittsburg city limits.
The sobriety/driver's license checkpoint is from 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23 to 1 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24.
The CHP said that, traffic volume permitting, all cars will be checked, and drivers under the influence of alcohol or drugs will be arrested.

"This checkpoint is part of our ongoing commitment to keeping our roads safe," the CHP said. "Officers will be looking for signs of alcohol and drug impairment, ensuring all drivers are sober and following traffic laws."
The CHP reminded drivers to plan ahead by using a designated driver, rideshare service or public transportation.

The checkpoint is funded by the "Don't Drive Impaired" grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
