Concord Fire Damage Estimated At $400,000
A Sunday apartment fire in the 3600 block of Clayton Road started in one unit and quickly spread to another. Two cats perished in the blaze.

CONCORD - A two-alarm blaze that torched two apartments in Concord on Sunday afternoon caused an estimated $400,000 in damage and killed two pets, according to a Contra Costa County Fire Protection District marshal.
Fire Marshal Robert Marshall said the fire, which was reported shortly before 5 p.m. in the 3600 block of Clayton Road, started in one apartment and spread to another.
Although the blaze was knocked down at 5:09 p.m., it caused a significant amount of damage to the apartments.

None of the people inside suffered injuries but two cats were killed, Marshall said. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
