CONCORD, CA -- A pedestrian who was struck and killed by a vehicle in Concord on Sunday night has been identified as 26-year-old Benita Verdin of Placerville, according to the Contra Costa County coroner's office.

Verdin was hit on eastbound Treat Boulevard at about 11:30 p.m. on March 19 as she was apparently crossing the street between Wilmore and San Simeon drives, an area without a crosswalk, according to Concord police.

The unidentified 58-year-old Concord woman who was driving the 2015 Honda that struck Verdin left the scene of the collision but later called police to say that she was involved, according to police Lt. Nick Gartner.
