Contra Costa Co. Man Dies Thanksgiving Day From Crash Injuries

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — A man died of injuries he suffered in a three-vehicle collision Wednesday morning in unincorporated Contra Costa County, California Highway Patrol officials said. A 25-year-old Antioch man was a passenger in a Nissan that collided with a Toyota that was rear-ended by a Dodge.
The man died at a hospital Thanksgiving Day.
CHP officials said the collision was reported at 6:55 a.m. on Bailey Road just south of the Keller Canyon Landfill.

The driver of the Nissan lost control of his vehicle on northbound Bailey Road because the road was wet, according to an initial investigation and witnesses.
The Nissan traveled into the southbound lane directly in front of the Toyota. The driver of the Toyota was unable to avoid it. The Toyota hit the passenger side of the Nissan and collided with the Dodge.

CHP officials said both people in the Toyota were taken to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek with major injuries.
The drivers of the Toyota and the Dodge suffered minor injuries.
CHP officials said it appears that alcohol and drugs did not play a part in the collision but it's still under investigation.
