Contra Costa Water District Proposes Rate Adjustment

The district is proposing a rate adjustment to generate up to a six-percent revenue increase.

CONCORD, CA β€” The Contra Costa Water District Board of Directors will hold a public meeting on Wednesday in Concord to consider proposed water rate structure changes and a rate adjustment. The district reviews rates and charges on an annual basis to ensure it is able to collect the amount of revenue to provide reliable water service, according to the district.

For 2019, the district is proposing a rate adjustment to generate up to a six-percent revenue increase.

The rate structure establishes how costs are divided among the more than 60,000 customer accounts.

The primary factors for determining the proposed updates include fairness, affordability, understandability and encouraging efficient water use while maintaining financial stability, according to the district.

If the changes are adopted, they would become effective Feb. 1.

The public hearing will be held at 6:30 p.m. at 1331 Concord Ave. in the Contra Costa Water District Board Room.
