De La Salle Scores On All-State Football Team

Two defensive stalwarts on the state's best team — De La Salle of Concord — landed on the all-state football team for the CalHiSports website.

Southern Cal-bound linebacker Michael Hutchings was CalHiSports' choice as Mr. Football State Player of the Year. He had 113 tackles for the years and even scored once on a 99-yard kickoff return. He is 6-foot-2, 215 pounds.

The website said of Stanford-bound defensive lineman Austin Hooper: "His speed on defense coming from the outside for a player his size is what made him so effective," the site stated. Hooper is 6-foot-5 and 245 pounds.
