Destination Wedding: 16 Couples To Wed At Mount Diablo Summit

The ceremonies are among the unique, memorable and affordable experiences offered by the Contra Costa Clerk-Recorder.

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA β€” It is a destination wedding but not in Bora Bora, Maldives or anywhere else in the Tropics. It is right here in Contra Costa County atop the majestic Mount Diablo.

Known for its breathtaking landscapes and panoramic views stretching for miles and miles and more miles, Mount Diablo will serve as the scenic backdrop Friday for 16 lucky couples in a special destination wedding event by the Contra Costa Clerk-Recorder's Office and the California Department of State Parks.

Ceremonies start at 10 a.m. Friday at the summit of Mount Diablo. Each couple will exchange vows amid the mountain's natural beauty, creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Friday's romantic, unforgettable ceremonies are part of the Clerk-Recorder's ongoing efforts to offer unique, memorable, affordable experiences for couples tying the knot.

"We are delighted to host these wedding ceremonies on Mount Diablo's Summit," said Kristin Connelly, clerk-recorder and commissioner of civil marriages. "It's a privilege to be part of such joyous occasions and to provide couples with a one-of-a-kind setting for their special day."

Because of the popularity of this event, all ceremony appointments have been booked and no unscheduled appointments will be accommodated, the Clerk-Recorder's Office said.

Tying The Knot Soon?

For information about marriage license and ceremony services, including future destination wedding events, go to Contracostavote.gov or call the office at 925-335-7900 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

For couples considering tying the knot in Contra Costa County, a marriage license must be obtained before a ceremony can be performed. If a couple has made an appointment for a ceremony, the license can be purchased before their appointment time at the County Clerk-Recorder's Office in Martinez. A public marriage license is $86, a confidential license is $90, and the civil marriage ceremony fee is $60.
