Do-It-Yourself Tip: You Can Post Your Group's Announcements and Events. You Don't Need to Run It by Us First

Cool feature about Patch: You don't need the editor to post community-worthy announcements and events. You can do it yourself!

You no longer need an intermediary like the local news staff to bring your organization's events and announcements to the people you want to reach.

Social media means many-to-many communication, with you, dear readers, being the first many, and the people you want to reach being the second.

See the lime green plus signs in two places on main page?

One is in the middle-left, below the "Read More" and above the "Nearby News" columns. That's for announcements.

The other is on the righthand side, after the comments section. That's where you can post your organization's events.

In both sections, you'll notice a green box in the top right corner with the "+" sign. Click it and you can make your own posts. You'll need a Patch account first, so if you don't have one, create one now by clicking "Sign Up" on the homepage.

Please be nice. Don't abuse the privilege. Your postings should be a legitimate public service, not a free self-promotion.

We will remove inappropriate postings and, if necessary (and I hope it never comes to this), block you from the system if we find abuses.
