Driver, 17, Identified In Deadly Contra Costa County Crash
The teenage driver died when her car went through a guardrail, then hit a cement wall.
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — A girl who died in a single-vehicle crash in the unincorporated
Contra Costa County community of Discovery Bay late Saturday night has been identified as 17-year-old Avery Hickok of Brentwood, according to the county coroner's office.
Hickok was driving a 2012 Hyundai Sonata when it crashed through a metal guardrail at the end of Lakeshore Circle just past where it intersects with Winchester Loop at about 11:45 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
The car then hit a concrete wall. The cause of the crash is still under investigation and authorities do not yet know if drugs or alcohol were factors, according to the CHP.

Hickok, who the CHP said apparently wasn't wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene.
