Event Inspires Next Generation Of Aviators

Twelve pilots volunteered their time and aircraft to provide 58 flights to the youth participants, ages 8 to 17.

CONCORD, CA β€” Civil Air Patrol Diablo Valley Composite Squadron 44 members assisted the Experimental Aircraft Association, which hosted a Young Eagles event at Buchanan Field.

Young Eagles is an EAA program that offers youth 8-17 their first ride in an airplane. Participants had the opportunity to fly in one of 12 aircraft, some of which included a Cessna 172, a Piper PA-28, a Vans RV-12, and a Glasair Sportsman.

"This event is all about inspiring the next generation of aviators," said Gates Roberg-Clark, Young Eagles coordinator. "We depend on the entire community to complete the mission. Pilots, volunteers, Civil Air Patrol members and the airport operations team all work together to let kids soar."

Twelve pilots, all members of the EAA, volunteered their time and aircraft to provide flights to 58 youth participants.
