Garage Destroyed In Concord House Fire

A fire early Thursday morning in Concord destroyed a detached garage at a vacant single-family home.

CONCORD - A fire early Thursday morning in Concord destroyed a detached garage at a vacant single-family home, officials with the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District said.

The fire was first reported at 5:17 a.m. at the corner of Concord Avenue and Fremont Street.

No one was injured and firefighters had the fire extinguished in a little more than an hour, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District Capt. Lisa Martinez said.

The heat from the fire caused some discoloration of the stucco on the home at 2181 Fremont St., but did no other damage, Martinez said.

Firefighters are still investigating what started the fire.
