A Pittsburg resident has been identified as a motorcyclist killed in a collision Saturday on Alves Lane in Bay Point.

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — A 32-year-old man who died in a fatal motorcycle crash in Bay Point on Sunday afternoon has been identified by the Contra Costa County coroner's office as Kenneth Jasper Jr. of Pittsburg. Jasper was driving a red 1992 Honda motorcycle at about 30 mph south on Alves Lane just north of Hill Street at 1:50 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
A 2014 gold Chevrolet Cruze had just turned north onto Alves Lane from Medanos Avenue at 5 mph and was about to make a left turn onto Hill Street in front of the oncoming motorcyclist when the collision happened, CHP officials said.
Jasper tried to avoid the Cruze but ended up down on the asphalt on the motorcycle, which then crashed into the Cruze.
