• Concord Son Arrested In New Year's Eve Slaying Of Parents: Report (patch.com) — Concord police and county prosecutors are investigating a New Year’s Eve double shooting that left an elderly couple dead inside their Concord home, with their adult son now charged in the killings. Authorities say he remains in county jail awaiting arraignment, and past court records describe earlier restraining orders and alleged threats involving him. 
• In brief: State grants Concord $300K to improve traffic data reporting (eastbaytimes.com) — Concord has secured a $300,000 state traffic safety grant to upgrade its crash data dashboard, aiming to better target dangerous streets and guide enforcement. Residents can also book free AARP Tax-Aide appointments at Concord Library and Concord Senior Center starting in February, alongside several other Contra Costa County locations and dates.
• Season of Sharing Fund gave cancer patient two gifts: Housing help and a lesson about charity (sfchronicle.com) — A Concord school district educator battling breast cancer kept her housing and access to healthy food thanks to a one-time grant from the Season of Sharing Fund. While recovering from surgery and chemo, she briefly couldn’t cover both her mortgage and nutritious meals, and the assistance helped her regain independence and return to serving local students.
