Pen Pals for More Than Six Decades

El Monte Elementary School assignment turned into 65-year, transatlantic friendship.

Any friendship that lasts more than half-a-century is likely a great one, but imagine one that has lasted 65 years remotely, from thousands of miles apart.Β

That's the story ofΒ Donna Sell, formerly of Concord, and Joyce Bolton, who lives in Scotland. The two were connected sometime after World War II via a pen-pal exercise assigned to Sell at Concord's El Monte Elementary school, according to San Jacinto County paper, The Valley Chronicle.

Check out the inspiring story on that paper's website.Β
