Police Stoked After Another Marijuana Find In Antioch

It's the second time within a week Antioch police find a large marijuana grow operation while investigating another reported crime.

ANTIOCH - For the second time within a week, Antioch Police say they’ve come across a large private marijuana grow, this time with more than 300 mature plants.

Last Tuesday, a victim of a home invasion robbery was arrested after investigating police reportedly found nearly 500 marijuana plants in his residence.

Last Saturday, officers responded to the 900 block of Badger Pass Way shortly after 3:00 a.m. when a caller reported to police the sound of gunshots in the area. The information indicated a van sped away from the scene.

Police say responding officers located the van nearby, and noticed several bullet holes in it. Ten pounds of fresh marijuana and growing equipment were found inside the van.

Police identified the female driver as 34-year-old Chun Li. The passenger, suffering a head injury, was identified as 37-year-old Jianhong Li.

Returning to the Badger Pass Way location, officers found a garage door that had been forced open from the inside, as if the van drove through it, and continued to investigate. Bullet holes were found in the walls of the home.

Armed with a search warrant, officers found more than 300 mature marijuana plants in the residence, police said.

Chun Li and Jianhong Li were the only suspects arrested by police. They were booked into the Martinez Detention Facility.

The incident remains under investigation.
