Side Gate Brewery & Beer Garden Now Open In Concord

CONCORD, CA — Side Gate Brewery & Beer Garden, billed as the largest and most expansive beer garden in Concord, hosted its official grand opening this past weekend.

Situated in a historic building at 1822 Grant St. in Concord’s Todos Santos Plaza, Side Gate offers a well-crafted selection of beers. All beers are brewed onsite and served to guests in a spacious, two-story taproom or an immersive outdoor beer garden.

Two Bay Area natives, Kevin Wilson and Paul Culbertson, who met as coworkers and bonded over their love of craft beer and homebrewing, founded Side Gate and serve as its co-brewers.

"Growing up, I worked hand-in-hand with my dad as he homebrewed on the weekends so brewing beer has always represented a sense of family and home to me," Wilson said.

The launch of their brewery — where beer aficionados, families and community members alike can come together in a safe environment and enjoy locally-crafted beer — is a long-awaited dream come true.

"Our slogan, 'Friends Don’t Knock,' is an ode to impromptu backyard hangouts, where everyone is considered family and can simply let themselves in through the side gate," Culbertson said. "At Side Gate, everyone is welcome and treated like family."

Side Gate launched with a rotating portfolio of beers, offering tasters and flights. The eclectic variety of beers features lagers, ales, IPAs and seasonal selections — including an Emu Egg New Zealand Pale Ale; On the Fence Juicy IPA; First Round Draught Robust Lager; and more.

Additionally, the state-of-the-art craft brewing facility offers growlers and crowlers to-go.

The dog-friendly, family-friendly brewery and beer garden, is open six days a week (closed on Tuesdays).
