Update: Power Restored to 22,000 PG&E Customers
Though unconfirmed, lightning strikes were likely the cause, according to PG&E.

Power was restored to all East Bay customers late Friday nightΒ after an outage had affected some 22,000 customers from earlier that evening,Β according to a utility spokeswoman.
The outage affected customers in Walnut Creek, Lafayette andΒ Concord and was initially reported around 5 p.m., spokeswoman Jana MorrisΒ said.
Customers in Walnut Creek were the last to have power fullyΒ restored at 11:30 p.m. More than 10,000 customers in other areas had powerΒ back around 8 p.m., according to Morris.

The cause of what was a substation failure was not immediatelyΒ known, however Morris said there had reports of lightening strikes in theΒ area.
