Verdict Reached In Pittsburg Officer-Involved Shooting
Terry Amons, of Antioch, was fatally shot Jan. 12 in an incident outside the Nation's Giant Hamburgers.

PITTSBURG, CA β The death of an Antioch man in an officer-involved shooting in January in Pittsburg has been ruled a death at the hands of another person other than by accident, sheriff's officials said. A jury convened in a coroner's inquest reached that verdict in the death of Terry Amons, 43, who died Jan. 12 in an incident outside the Nation's Giant Hamburgers at 3789 Railroad Ave.
Amons was allegedly reaching for a gun when police responding to a report of a drug deal opened fire outside the restaurant. Amos was struck, and was transported to John Muir Medical Center and pronounced dead there.
Sheriff's officials said the jury reached its verdict following the testimony of witnesses called by Matthew Guichard, the hearing officer.
