Walnut Creek Man Dies After Car Strikes Him

Walnut Creek resident Patrick Ennis was crossing a Concord street Friday night when a car, driven by another Walnut Creek resident, hit him.

CONCORD - A 64-year-old man died two days after he was struck by a vehicle while crossing a Concord street on Friday evening, police and Contra Costa County coroner’s officials said Monday.

At 6:36 p.m. Friday, officers responded to the area of Oak Grove Road and Smith Lane, where a vehicle struck a pedestrian, according to Concord police.

The vehicle was traveling south on Oak Grove Road when it struck the pedestrian, who suffered major injuries, police said. The man died in the hospital on Sunday.

He has been identified as Walnut Creek resident Patrick Ennis, according to the coroner’s office.

The motorist, a 48-year-old man from Walnut Creek, remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, police said.

Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the collision, according to police.
