Woman Escapes, Man Dies In East Bay House Fire
Firefighters arrived to find a woman had escaped the blaze through a window but a man was still trapped inside the home.
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — One person died Friday morning in a house fire in Bay Point, authorities said. Contra Costa County firefighters responded at 1 a.m. to the 100 block of Loftus Road to a report of a structure fire and found heavy smoke coming from the residence.
Fire crews learned a woman was able to get out of the home through a window, but a man was still trapped inside, according to Contra Costa County Fire Protection District Capt. Steve Aubert.
Firefighters were able to get the man out of the home and to an ambulance, but the man later died at the hospital.
