This first installment traces his journey from Arkansas teen to elite combat diver and covert Phoenix Program operator in Vietnam, with more of his postwar life promised in part two. 
2. Chase Elliott Secures Amazon Prime Sponsorship for Three-Race Cup Series Run (speedwaydigest.com) — Coronado race fans may notice Amazon Prime Video’s growing NASCAR role, including broadcasting the 2026 San Diego street race at Naval Base Coronado. The streamer is also backing Chase Elliott’s No. 9 car in three major 2026 Cup Series events, unveiling a bold new black-and-blue paint scheme for Talladega, Texas, and the All-Star Race.
3. EPA Announces New Agreement Between US and Mexico To End The Tijuana River Sewage Crisis (californiaglobe.com) — Coronado leaders say a new U.S.–Mexico Minute 333 agreement could finally bring long-sought relief from the Tijuana River sewage that has repeatedly fouled local beaches and impacted Navy operations. The deal funds major Mexican-side infrastructure, creates a binational working group, and commits both countries to long-term maintenance, with regional officials from Coronado to Imperial Beach cautiously optimistic but stressing continued accountability.
4. Why the U.S. Navy Quit Building a Mach 7 Railgun with a 100 Mile Range (19fortyfive.com) — Coronado gets a brief nod as the planned 2019 commissioning site for the destroyer Michael Monsoor, one of the few ships that might have powered the Navy’s now-canceled railgun. The story explains why, after 15 years and $500 million, the Mach 7 electromagnetic weapon was abandoned in favor of hypersonic missiles and lasers.
