Pedestrian Killed In Suspected DUI Crash In North County ID'd

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

SAN MARCOS, CA — Authorities Monday identified a man who was fatally struck in a North County accident involving a suspected drunken driver.

Benjamin Lo Cicero, 34, was struck by a Ford F-150 around 11:40 p.m. Saturday in the 900 block of West San Marcos Boulevard in San Marcos, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office and San Diego County Sheriff's Office. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the pickup, Daniel Vega, 54, was under the influence of alcohol, Sgt. Jeremy Collis said.

"Following the collision, Vega was arrested for driving under the influence. However, the DUI arrest is not related to the cause of the collision," Collis said. The investigation into the circumstances of the incident is ongoing."
