79-Year-Old Woman Victim Of Culver City Armed Robbery: Police

The victim had her cellphone and a fanny pack with cash and keys taken early Monday. Police still are searching for the suspect.

CULVER CITY, CA —The Culver City Police Department said it continues to search for a male suspect in connection with an armed robbery of a 79-year-old woman early Sunday morning in the area of Jefferson Boulevard and Indian Wood Road.

According to police reports, at approximately 1:20 a.m., the victim was sitting on a fire hydrant and resting after walking her dog when the suspect approached the victim from behind, wrapped his arms around her neck and threw her to the ground.

The victim told police that the suspect held a handgun in his left hand and forcefully removed the victim's cell phone, which was attached with a lanyard around her neck.

Then, the suspect removed the victim's fanny pack, which contained cash and keys, and ran eastbound on Jefferson Avenue, the victim told police.

The Culver City Fire Department said it responded to the scene and treated the victim for non-life-threatening injuries, which were sustained during the robbery.
