Culver City detectives at 11:30 a.m. Aug. 24 identified two suspects in a nearby business who they believed were involved in the early morning shooting, police said. Detectives served a search warrant at the business and recovered another gun and other evidence at the location.

According to the investigation, detectives say Beard had attempted an ambush-style shooting and then the victim, who was also armed, shot him.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office Aug. 26 filed attempted murder charges on Beard and he remains in custody, authorities said.

His bail was set at $1.2M and he is currently held at Twin Towers Correctional Facility. Beard's next court date is Sept. 13 at LAX Superior Court.
