Cafe 70 Degrees Has Me Begging for Boba

The drink with its cute little marbles at the bottom is a personal favorite at Cafe 70 Degrees.

Boba drinks became the new black when I was at UCLA. I remember those days well; it was as if the sweet drink with its characteristic black tapioca balls would somehow help me to write a more eloquent English Lit paper.

They didn’t.

However, well after my essays became scratch paper, the colorful cafes that specialize in boba fanned out across Los Angeles, becoming almost as ubiquitous as the corner Starbucks. And nowadays, when my craving for good boba becomes too great, I head over to Café 70 Degrees.

This cozy nook features the lovely boba (of course) along with loose leaf teas, sweet treats and oversized sandwiches and salads. Though their drinks can range on the pricey side, the amount you end up with is well worth the price tag. I usually go in a few times and try to blend in with the colorful flowers decorating the joint, as I sometimes use it as an office spot. If you’re in the mood for free WiFi, comfy chairs and a refreshing boba drink, don’t miss Café 70. A little disclaimer: The sign on the outside still says West Subs, which is a leftover from the previous owner.
