Court of Appeal Upholds Shutdown of Local Marijuana Clinic

A Los Angeles Superior Court of Appeal has upheld an order shutting down a medical marijuana dispensary that straddles the Los Angeles/Culver City boundary, reports Metropolitan News-Enterprise.

Jeffrey K. Jopseh opened his practice, Organica, in 2007 at 13456 Washington Blvd. 

In February 2010, authorities raided Organica, shutting it down. Joseph was arrested and charged with 24 felony drug counts relating to the dispensary operations.

According to the News-Enterprise Joseph represented himself in an effort to have a trial in a nusiance abatement action brought by both Culver City and Los Angeles City attorneys.

However, the court ruled Joseph presented no evidence that would permit him to have a trial and both a a summary judgement and a permanent injunction were granted against Joseph and Organica.

The ruling states Joseph is prohibited from unlawfully selling, serving, storing, keeping, manufacturing or giving away controlled substances, including marijuana, anywhere in Culver City or the City of Los Angeles.
