Culver City Crime Blotter: Assault and Identity Theft Reported

Here's a recap of crimes that occurred between July 9 and July 15, as reported to the Culver City Police Department.

Attempted Residential Burglary:

At 2 p.m. July 9, a victim came to the police department to report she was a victim of an attempt burglary. The victim said on she locked and secured her residence in the 5900 block of Canterbury Drive at 7 p.m. July 8 and remained inside for the evening. The next morning at 9:30 am, she discovered pry marks on the front door.

Stolen Vehicle:

At 5:45 p.m. July 9, a victim came to the police department to report her 1996 Mercedes Benz was missing. The victim said she had her car towed to the 3900 block of Sepulveda Boulevard for repairs. The car was last seen on July 2, when the tow company said they dropped off her vehicle. When she called the repair shop on July 9, the vehicle had not been seen and missing from the location.

Assault:

At 12:10 a.m. July 13, officers responded to the 11400 block of Venice Boulevard regarding an assault investigation. The officers met with the victim who told them the following; he was at a bar located in the 5400 block of Sepulveda Boulevard. He said he left the location at midnight and as he walking through the parking lot was suddenly attacked by the suspect. The suspect struck him several times causing him to fall to the ground. The suspect then fled on foot. The suspect was described as a male white, 5’8, medium build, with long blond hair.

Identity Theft:

At 10 a.m. July 12, a resident living in the 3300 block of Helms Avenue came to the police department to report she was a victim of identity theft. The victim said she received a letter from her bank stating they have detected some fraudulent activity using her bank account. The victim said she has not given anyone permission to access her account.

Vandalism:

At 1:30 p.m. July 12, a victim called the police department to report he was a victim of vandalism. The victim said he parked and locked his Nissan Sentra in the 3800 block of Tilden Avenue at 6 p.m. July 11. When he returned the next day he saw that his right side mirror had been broken off.
