Culver City Police Blotter: Two Separate Crimes on Arizona Avenue

One person reported their car had been vandalized and the following day another reported property stolen. Both incidents occurred in the 10800 block of Arizona Ave.

Here's a recap of crimes that occurred between June 18 and June 25, as reported to the Culver City Police Department.

Grand Theft Person

On June 18 at 3:05 p.m. officers responded to the 4300 block of Mentone Ave. regarding a grand theft person. The officers met with the victim who told them she was walking southbound on Mentone when she saw the suspect walking toward her. As she was about to walk past the suspect, he grabbed her property and fled the area. The suspect was described as a male Black, 19 years of age, 5’10, muscular build wearing a white tee shirt and gray shorts.

Vandalism

On June 18 2013 at 7:30 p.m. a victim called the police department to report her 2013 Lexus had been vandalized. The victim said she parked and locked her car in the 10800 block of Arizona Ave. at 9:50 a.m. When she returned at 6 p.m. she discovered her car had been vandalized. The suspect was described as a male Hispanic or White, in his 30’s wearing a dark blue jacket.

Residential Burglary

On June 19 at 12:55 p.m. officers responded to the 10800 block of Arizona Ave. regarding a burglary investigation. The officers met with the victim who told them he locked and secured his residence at 11:30 a.m. At 1:10 p.m. he received a call from his alarm company telling him of activation.  When he arrived he met with the officers and they discovered his front door had been forced open and his property missing.

Commercial Burglary

On June 19 at 10:25 p.m. officers responded to the 4400 block of Overland Ave. regarding a burglary investigation. The officers met with the reporting party who told them at 7 a.m. am the locations was secured and at 6:30 p.m. he discovered a window had been smashed. He checked the interior of the location and found no property missing.

Attempted Grand Theft Auto

On June 24 at 10 p.m. a victim called the police department to report unknown suspect(s) had attempted to steal his car. The victim said he parked and locked his 1994 Chevy in the 6000 block of Sepulveda Blvd. at 1 p.m. When he returned at 9:30 p.m. he discovered the lights on and the steering column had been broken.
