Culver City to Host TEDx Event in June

TEDxCulverCity will be hosted at the Kirk Douglas Theater.

The Kirk Douglas Theater will play host to Culver City's very own TEDx event this June to discuss "ideas worth spreading," organizers announced this week.

A lineup of speakers will converge June 23 to talk about topics including education, health, technology and the arts.

The event "will offer the Culver City community an opportunity to share its passion and ideas with communities around the world," TEDxCulverCity spokeswoman Marie Bobin said in a release. "TEDxCulverCity is a collaboration between some of the city’s most innovative companies, organizations, ideas and residents, working together both behind the scenes and on stage, to create a dynamic and engaging event for the city."

Confirmed speakers thus far include artist Sylvana Barrett, Los Angeles World Affairs Council president and CEO Terry McCarthy, ZOIC Studios head of pipeline Mike Romey and Lycée Français of Los Angeles president Clara Lisa Kabbaz.

TEDxCulverCity is one of many independently organized events that are licensed under the larger TED banner. The goal, organizers said, is to bring local community members together to spark discussion on innovation and "ideas worth spreading."

Tickets for the TEDx event in Culver City will cost $60 for general admission and $45 for students. The ticket price includes admission to the day's events, lunch and free parking. Tickets can be purchased on the TEDxCulverCity website.

For those that cannot attend the event in person, the day's events will be streamed live online.
