Fatima Ptacek, Voice of Dora, Coming to Culver City Saturday

She will do a storytime and meet and greet with fans at the Dora and Friends booth where there will be coloring activities and more.

WHAT: Fátima Ptacek, voice of Dora the Explorer, will make a special appearance during the Dora and Friends: Into the City! interactive experience at Westfield Culver City on Saturday, Oct. 4. She will do a storytime and meet and greet with fans at the Dora and Friends booth where there will be coloring activities, interactive mobile app demonstrations, raffles for special prizes and photo opportunities with the Dora costumed character.

WHO: Ptacek, 14, is the voice of Dora in Dora and Friends: Into the City! and the Emmy Award-winning series Dora the Explorer. She has been the voice of Dora since November 2010 and has received an Imagen Award and NAACP Award nominations for her work. She is also known for her lead role in the Academy Award-winning 2012 short film, Curfew, which has been turned into a feature film, Before I Disappear, releasing nationwide in November.

Ptacek is an accomplished fashion model and presently serves as Ambassador for the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation and Youth Ambassador for the Latino Commission on AIDS. She is a competitive gymnast competing at USAG Level 7 and an accomplished equestrian. Fluent in English and Spanish, Ptacek is also studying Mandarin Chinese.

BACKGROUND: Dora and Friends: Into the City! is a brand-new animated preschool series airing weekdays at 12 p.m. (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon. The half-hour series features the iconic character Dora living in a city, attending school and at the center of a peer group that works together to give back to the community--having both real-life and magical adventures along the way. Dora and Friends is set to a soundtrack of Latin-influenced pop music and features an interactive curriculum focusing on community service, problem solving, emotional skills, Spanish language and Latino culture. In the new series, Dora continues to be a good friend, leader, and problem solver with a group of new friends–Kate, Naiya, Emma, Alana and Pablo-who share her passion for learning and exploring. The Dora the Explorerseries, which after 14 years remains the most-watched preschool show on TV, will continue to air.
