Man Locks Himself In Trader Joe's Bathroom, Negotiators Step In

A group of crisis negotiators from the Culver City Police Department helped a man who locked himself inside a Trader Joe's bathroom.

CULVER CITY, CA — Culver City Police Department's Crisis Negotiation team helped deescalate an emergency this week at a Trader Joe's after a man locked himself inside a bathroom, flooded it, and refused to leave.

It happened Tuesday about 9:30 p.m. at Trader Joe's, 6150 Slauson Ave., police said.

Officers arrived and saw the suspect was damaging the inside of the restroom and wouldn't come out, police said.

The Culver City Police Department Crisis Negotiation Team responded to the store and contacted the suspect inside the restroom, police said.

He was taken into custody without incident and taken to a hospital for treatment.
