CULVER CITY, CA — A 33-year-old Culver City Middle School teacher who suffers from schizophrenia and was missing for more than a week has been found safe, authorities announced Tuesday.
Brianna Capillo, of Rancho Palos Verdes, was previously last seen on Jan. 12 about 1 a.m. at her residence on Cayuse Lane near Chaparral Lane, Deputy Erin Liu of the Sheriff's Information Bureau said.
Capillo is a language arts teacher at Culver City Middle School, and a candlelight vigil was being planned before she was found safe.

"We are so happy to report that our middle school teacher Ms. Capillo has been found and is safe. Those are the only details that we have, and we will respect the family’s privacy as they attend to their daughter," Culver City Unified School District Superintendent Leslie Lockhart said in a statement. "We are so appreciative of our Culver City school community for the love and support that was collectively given to the Capillo family as they went through this difficult time."
Capillo's family was concerned because she had not been taking her medication, Liu said.
