Mitchell Easily Wins 54th Assembly District Seat

Holly Mitchell (D-Culver City) easily won reelection on Tuesday in the newly-configured 54^th Assembly District, defeating Republican candidate Keith B. McCowen 83.3 percent to 16.6 percent. Mitchell received 105, 935 votes over McCowen who received 21,113 votes.

Mitchell was first elected to the 47^th Assembly District in the 2010 State Legislature until redistricting saw her placed in the newly configured 54^th Assembly District that covers several areas including Culver City, Westwood and Century City.

Following her win on Tuesday, Mitchell told Patch, “I am honored and encouraged by the wide margin of victory with which the voters of the 54^th Assembly District have re-elected me to serve them. During my first term I conducted more than 20 hearings on the impacts of budget cuts to service programs and the Governor signed into law all 12 of the bills I got to his desk. I pledge that in my second term I will be even more committed and energetic in addressing the needs of my constituents and fellow Californians.”
