More Traffic Disruptions Around Culver City Beginning March 20

Day and night time traffic will be disrupted from March 20 through March 29 as Metro builds the Venice Boulevard Bridge as part of Expo Line activities.

Expect delays and detour as Metro begins construction on the Venice Boulevard Bridge starting March 20 for nine days.

Construction will take place on the Expo Right of Way, Venice Boulevard and Robertson Boulevard from 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday.

Extended Work Hours: Sunday, March 24, 2013 - Noon to 6:00 a.m.

Bridge Construction Begins

March 2013 - (Day Work - Approximately 9 months)

 

 Work Description:

Work activities will include the restriping of traffic lanes and implementing new traffic controls on Venice Boulevard between Culver Boulevard and Vera Avenue and on Robertson Boulevard at the intersection with Venice Boulevard. K-rail will be placed to designate the work area and bridge construction activities will be limited to areas behind the K-rail and in the Expo ROW.

 Traffic Impacts During Implementation of New Traffic Controls and K-rail Installation (Night Work):

  • Venice Boulevard will be reduced to one or two lanes of traffic in each direction between Culver Boulevard and Vera Avenue. 
  • Robertson Boulevard will be closed between Venice Boulevard and Hoke Avenue

 

Temporary Traffic Lane Configuration During Bridge Construction:

  • Eastbound Venice Boulevard will be reduced to two through lanes and one left turn lane at Robertson Boulevard. Right turns will be prohibited for trucks at Robertson Boulevard.
  • Westbound Venice Boulevard will be reduced to two through lanes at Robertson Boulevard and left turns onto South Robertson Boulevard will be prohibited. Left turns onto southbound National Boulevard will be allowed.
  • Robertson Boulevard south of Venice Boulevard will be reduced to one southbound lane and two northbound lanes. Left turns onto westbound Venice Boulevard will be prohibited for trucks.  
  • The Robertson Boulevard off ramp from the eastbound I-10 freeway will be reduced to one through lane shared with the left turn lane onto eastbound Venice Boulevard. The left and right turn lanes will remain. 

 

Advisories: 

  • Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times or via a designated walkway installed by the contractor.
  • Parking will be prohibited along certain areas throughout construction and “No Stopping Anytime” restrictions will be strictly enforced at all times. 
  • Electronic message boards and directional signage will be used to safely direct drivers and pedestrians around the construction zones.
  • Local access to businesses and residences will be maintained throughout all construction activities.
  • Please obey all posted construction signs and do not enter the construction work zone.
