Police Search For Driver In Fatal Hit-And-Run In Culver City

The victim was killed while crossing the street in Culver City earlier this month. Police are still searching for the driver, who fled.

CULVER CITY, CA — Culver City police are searching for a hit-and-run driver who killed a pedestrian earlier this month.

At about 1:45 a.m. on November 3, Culver City Police Department officers and Culver City Fire Department personnel were dispatched to Washington Place, west of Frances Avenue, for a hit-and-run traffic collision involving a car and pedestrian. When officers arrived, they found the man, whose identity will remain confidential, lying on the street in the eastbound lanes of Washington Place. Paramedics declared the man dead at the scene.

"Our officers learned that the victim had been struck by a vehicle while crossing the street and that the suspect had fled the location following the collision," the Culver City Police Department said. "No witnesses to the collision were located during the on-scene investigation."

The suspect never returned to the scene after the crash and was not identified, according to CCPD. However, cameras in the area captured images and video of the suspect's vehicle, believed to be a black, newer model Toyota Corolla, police said. The vehicle’s front windshield was shattered in the crash, and there was damage caused to the hood and the dashboard, CCPD said.
