Suspect Confesses To Random Stabbings At Culver City Mall: Police

One victim was stabbed in the hand at Five Guys Restaurant, and another was stabbed in the arm while walking into JCPenney.

CULVER CITY, CA — A suspect arrested in connection with random stabbings at the Culver City Mall gave a full confession, authorities announced Wednesday.

Joshua Ebow, of Los Angeles, was arrested and booked on two counts of assault with a deadly weapon in connection to two stabbings over the course of several days in Culver City — one at Five Guys Restaurant and another at JCPenney a few days later. According to police, Ebow pounced on random victims at the busy shopping center.

"Ebow provided Culver City Police Detectives with a full confession to both stabbings," the Culver City Police Department said. "Formal charges were filed with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office."

Culver City officers were flagged down outside Five Guys Restaurant at the Culver City Mall December 29. They found a victim with a stab wound to his right hand, but witnesses said the suspect fled the scene before officers arrived.

On January 2, officers responded to Kaiser Hospital regarding a stabbing that happened earlier that day at JCPenney in the Culver City Mall at 6000 Sepulveda Boulevard. The victim told officers he was stabbed in the right arm by a man while entering the store.

Surveillance footage from JCPenney revealed the suspect who committed the assault at JCPenney was the same person who had committed the stabbing a few days earlier at Five Guys Restaurant. Culver City Police Detectives identified Ebow through their investigation, and arrested him on January 3 in El Segundo.
